Galaxy M2: could be the first notched smartphone from Samsung

This is how the first notched Samsung phone could look like: Galaxy M2.

So far the popular manufacturer from korean has resisted the most annoying smartphone trends of the year – the display notch and lack of headphone jack. But in 2020, that’s all set to change. It seems inevitable that korean manufacturer will adopt the notch, starting with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy M2.

But the Samsung Galaxy M2 is also interesting ’cause it could also make use of one of Samsung’s new notched displays. The Korean Manufacturer earlier this month revealed four new displays with (and without) notches, which the Korean Manufacturer is expected to start using as early as next year in all of its smartphone lineups. While the so-called Infinity-O display, which has a camera ‘punch hole’, is likely reserved for the Galaxy S10, the Infinity-V and Infinity-U are likely contenders for the mid-range and budget offerings.

The Korean Manufacturer Samsung may have made fun of both Apple and Google for their respective takes on the notched display design, but is apparently gearing to join the party in 2020. However, to be fair, if the images shown during the announcement of the new Infinity displays are anything to by, then Samsung’s implementation of the notch is going to be more in line with the “waterdrop” trend that we’ve seen as of late, which many people agree is the lesser evil. Whether Samsung will choose the Infinity-V or U for the Samsung Galaxy M2, remains to be seen.

What we do know is that the Samsung Galaxy M2 will have a 2340 × 1080 display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, which does seem to indicate that Infinity displays are coming to Samsung’s most affordable phone offerings. This detail was revealed in a recently leaked AnTuTu benchmark for a Samsung smartphone with a model SM-M205F, behind which allegedly hides the Samsung Galaxy M2.

The benchmark include:
32GB of storage.
Exynos 7885 processor.
3GB of RAM.
13MP main camera with an 8MP selfie.
Android 8.1 Oreo.

Although these specs sound quite plausible, they should still be taken with a grain of salt, as we are a good couple months away from the release of the device. They are in line with previous rumors about the Samsung Galaxy M2, so they could be fairly accurate.

But tell us what you think of notches coming to The Korean Manufacturer Samsung mid-range and budget phones. Do you like the Infinity-U and the Infinity-V?

Do you like the Display Infinity-U and the Infinity-V?
