iOS 8 Battery Power
September 17 was an exciting day for the millions of iPhone and iPad users. That’s when iOS 8, the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, was officially released. It brought along a generous amounts of improvements, both major and minor ones.
There’s one neat iOS 8 feature, however, that has not received as much attention as it deserves. That’s the option to see detailed information about your device’s battery usage – to see which apps consume the most power, be it while active or while running in the background. In this post, we’ll show you how to access this data on your iOS 8 device.
You can see which of your apps are using the most battery power. Go to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage. You can see which apps have used the most energy in the past 24 hours and the past week. Note that high ranking apps are not necessarily battery hogs. It may be you frequently used that app or the app was downloading or uploading data in the background. Apps you should be concerned about are those that appear at the top of the power consumption list even though you haven’t been using them much.
